App platform for deploying services, databases and workers from a repo without managing servers.

Best for
  • APIs, workers and databases
  • Small teams without DevOps
Not for
  • Purely static sites

Top use cases

  • Deploy services from a GitHub repo with autodeploys source ↗
  • Add a PostgreSQL database that other services reach via DATABASE_URL source ↗
  • Start from a template in the marketplace source ↗
  • Let an AI agent create projects, deploy templates and redeploy via MCP source ↗

In depth

Plans

Railway's Free plan starts with a 30-day trial and $5 of credits, then $1/month (up to 1 vCPU and 0.5 GB RAM per service). Hobby is a $5 monthly minimum that includes $5 of usage, and Pro a $20 minimum that includes $20; usage beyond credits is billed. Enterprise is custom. Checked 2026-10-17. source ↗

Services and databases

A Railway project holds services (from a repo or image) and databases. Deploying the PostgreSQL template exposes DATABASE_URL, PGHOST, PGPORT, PGUSER, PGPASSWORD and PGDATABASE to the project's other services. source ↗

Templates

Templates package one or more services into a reusable format. You can deploy from the template marketplace or publish your own. source ↗

MCP server and plugins

Railway's MCP server (mcp.railway.com) lets assistants create projects, deploy templates, manage environments, pull variables and redeploy. Connect through the Railway CLI or directly with OAuth. Railway also publishes plugins for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Antigravity and Grok Bot. source ↗

How to use it with AI

Railway's docs also name: ChatGPT.

Confirmed means both the tool's and the platform's official docs describe that route (links in the cell); IonBin has not tested every pairing. Not documented means it may work, but no official docs describe that route end to end. Checked Oct 17, 2026.
