Question

How do I deploy from GitHub to Railway or Cloudflare?

Verified Oct 17, 2026 Review by Jan 15, 2027 7 sources
Short answer

Connect the repository once and let merges deploy. Railway autodeploys services from a GitHub branch. Cloudflare Pages builds and deploys on each push, with previews for other branches, and Workers Builds does the same for Workers. Protect the main branch so only reviewed changes that pass checks reach production.

What it is

A deploy pipeline turns a merged change into a live update without manual steps. GitHub holds the code, and Railway or Cloudflare watches the repository.

How it works

  • Railway: connect a GitHub repo to a service. Pushes to the chosen branch deploy automatically, and you can change the trigger branch or turn automatic deploys off. Databases such as PostgreSQL run in the same project.
  • Cloudflare Pages: connect a GitHub or GitLab repo. Each push builds and deploys, and other branches get preview deployments.
  • Cloudflare Workers Builds: connects a repo so pushes build and deploy Workers.
  • GitHub branch protection: rules can require passing status checks before a change reaches the main branch, and block force pushes.
  • Agents: Railway’s MCP server lets an AI assistant check deploy status and redeploy.

Build limits (checked 2026-10-17). Workers Builds gives 3,000 build minutes a month on the Free plan and 6,000 on paid plans, then $0.005 a minute. Pages’ Free plan allows 500 builds a month. Builds on both time out after 20 minutes.

Benefits

  • Every live change maps to a reviewed pull request.
  • Preview deployments let marketing check pages before launch.
  • Rollback is a revert away.

Limits and risks

  • Metered builds. Build minutes and counts are capped by plan. Check them if you push often.
  • Secrets belong in the platform’s variables, not the repo.
  • Auto-deploy needs guardrails. Deploying on every push is risky without branch protection and checks.
