Run supported models locally and call them through an API. Local and cloud execution are different modes; check which model actually serves each request. Documentation checked; not hands-on tested.

Reference entry: listed because workflows on IonBin use it. IonBin has no affiliate or paid relationship with Ollama.

Best for
  • A local model API for a custom application
  • Reproducible tests with a named model and configuration
Not for
  • Automatic document retrieval without a separate pipeline
  • Assuming every localhost request stays on the device

Top use cases

  • Call a local model through the documented API source ↗
  • Disable cloud features for a local-only setup source ↗

In depth

Verify the execution path

Ollama supports cloud models as well as local inference. Set OLLAMA_NO_CLOUD=1 and restart when the workflow requires cloud features to be disabled. Model downloads still need a separate preparation step. source ↗

Keep the endpoint private

Local API access does not require an API key. The default binding is localhost; exposing it to other machines requires deliberate access controls. source ↗

How to use it with AI

How Ollama connects to each AI platform: native connector or MCP, API through code the agent writes, browser control, or file upload.

Confirmed is reserved for evidence of the specific connection route. The current named integrations include plugins, skills and CLIs, so a named platform alone does not confirm MCP or a native connector. Inferred means each side documents a relevant capability, but no document describes the pairing. Code execution still needs network and credential access; file handling still needs a compatible format and transfer direction. Not documented means the records do not establish the route. IonBin has not tested these pairings. Recorded Oct 18, 2026.

No confirmed MCP server yet.

Automation hubs to assess for a custom API connection: Gumloop, Make, n8n, Zapier. Verify credentials, supported requests, limits and error handling; no configured integration is implied.
