Report ad results by profit, not revenue

Business data & reporting · Marketing content & social · checked 2026-10-17

Pull last week's ad spend and revenue by campaign through Windsor.ai, join it with product margins from QuickBooks in a script, and have Claude explain POAS by campaign. You check the totals before sharing.

Not advice

IonBin provides general information and software comparisons, not tax, legal, accounting or financial advice. Tax and legal rules vary by situation and jurisdiction; consult a qualified professional (CPA, enrolled agent or attorney) before acting.

AI tools can make mistakes. Verify every figure against the original documents and official IRS or state guidance before filing or signing.

Redact Social Security numbers, account numbers and EINs before uploading documents to any AI assistant, and check its data-retention settings. Upload originals only to the filing or signing software.

Steps

1Windsor.ai Supplies spend and conversion value by campaign over its MCP server
Uses OAuth 2.0 on first connect.
MCP Confirmed · source ↗
2You Export gross margin by product from QuickBooks Human step Confirmed
3Claude Writes and runs a script that joins the data and calculates POAS AI platform Confirmed
4You Check totals against the ad platforms and QuickBooks, then share Human step Confirmed

Confirmed means the vendor documents it (linked). It doesn't mean IonBin has tested it. AI-platform and human steps need no source.

Human approval

You check totals before anything is shared.

Watch out for

Do the math in code. Language models make arithmetic errors.

Starter prompt

Using these files, calculate POAS (gross profit / ad spend) by campaign for last week, in a script, not in your head. Show the formula, flag campaigns below 1.0 and explain the three biggest movers.

What we checked (2026-10-17)

Windsor.ai’s MCP server lets AI assistants query marketing, analytics and CRM data from many sources, and it signs in with OAuth 2.0 the first time you connect. Google Ads explains that conversion values let you see the total business value your ads generated, not just the number of conversions. POAS swaps revenue for gross profit, so the margin data has to come from your accounting system, not from the ad platform. Language models make arithmetic errors, so the join and the division belong in a script. See POAS.

Set it up

  1. Connect Windsor.ai to Claude and ask for last week’s spend and conversion value by campaign.
  2. Export gross margin by product from QuickBooks.
  3. Ask Claude to write and run a script that joins the two and calculates POAS per campaign, showing its inputs.
  4. Check the totals against the ad platforms and QuickBooks before you share the report.

This workflow explains a metric. It isn’t financial, tax or accounting advice.
