Need

Track SEO performance weekly

Verified Oct 16, 2026 Review by Apr 14, 2027 7 sources
Short answer

Pull Search Console data into a weekly summary: clicks, impressions, top movers and indexing issues, with AI writing a plain-language readout. Google counts AI Overviews and AI Mode traffic inside the Web search type, so this report already includes them.

What it is

A short weekly SEO report keeps marketing focused on what changed and why.

How it works

  1. Connect Search Console (and optionally an SEO suite) via API or export.
  2. Compare this week with last week and the same week last year.
  3. Have AI summarize movers and likely causes, flagging guesses as guesses.
  4. Send to a channel or doc; log actions taken.

What the Search Console data can and can’t do (checked 2026-10-16).

  • Delay: Google says performance data is normally available after 2–3 days. The API can return fresher, still-changing data if you ask for it (dataState: "all") and flags the first incomplete date.
  • Row limits: the API returns at most 50,000 rows per day per search type, sorted by clicks, and only top rows rather than every query. Grouping by page or query can drop some data.
  • Privacy filtering: very rare queries and ones with personal or sensitive information are left out, so table rows can add up to less than the chart totals.
  • Quotas: Search Analytics calls are capped at 1,200 queries per minute per site and per user, plus load limits. Google says a daily query for one day’s data shouldn’t exceed the daily quota.
  • AI features: Google reports traffic from AI Overviews and AI Mode inside the Performance report’s Web search type.

Benefits

  • Consistent visibility without manual digging.
  • Faster reaction to drops or indexing issues.
  • History of what you changed.

Limits and risks

  • AI explanations of causes are hypotheses, not findings.
  • Search Console data lags and is incomplete by design (see below).
  • Third-party estimates are modeled.
