A print-and-mail API for letters, postcards, self-mailers and checks, with address verification. The Developer plan has no subscription fee; you pay print and postage per piece.

Best for
  • Sending printed letters or postcards from your own app or agent
  • Verifying mailing addresses before you send
Not for
  • Handwritten-style notes
  • Sending mail nobody has reviewed

Top use cases

In depth

Prepare, preview and send

Lob documents letters, postcards and self-mailers using HTML or PDF creative and recipient addresses. Campaigns accept a CSV audience and support proofs before ordering. The Campaigns API guide is labelled beta; verify its current status before building around it. Use a configured cancellation window, and approve the audience, creative and cost before sending. source ↗

Pricing

Developer has no platform subscription fee; Startup starts at $260/month and Growth at $550/month. Print, postage and applicable extras are charged separately from the subscription. The page's Developer volume of up to 6,000 is annual mailings, not a monthly allowance or free mail. Confirm billing term and format-specific rates; address-verification pricing is separate. Checked 2026-10-18. source ↗

Test keys versus live results

Test API calls can generate digital proofs without printing or posting mail, but they simulate address-verification behavior and do not verify real addresses. Use a live key for actual verification or mail. Keep secret keys on your server; live sends incur charges and must be reviewed before submission. source ↗

How to use it with AI

How Lob connects to each AI platform: native connector or MCP, API through code the agent writes, browser control, or file upload.

Confirmed is reserved for evidence of the specific connection route. The current named integrations include plugins, skills and CLIs, so a named platform alone does not confirm MCP or a native connector. Inferred means each side documents a relevant capability, but no document describes the pairing. Code execution still needs network and credential access; file handling still needs a compatible format and transfer direction. Not documented means the records do not establish the route. IonBin has not tested these pairings. Recorded Oct 18, 2026.

To verify Official MCP server availability is unverified. The main API reference could not be read during this audit; capabilities here are corroborated by Lob's help documentation.

Connection capabilities to compare

No confirmed MCP server yet.

Automation hubs to assess for a custom API connection: Gumloop, Make, n8n, Zapier. Verify credentials, supported requests, limits and error handling; no configured integration is implied.
