Starter prompt
Goal: Find missing or mismatched payouts before they distort the books. Tools involved: Stripe, Xero, Codex. Your part: lists payouts and balance transactions; lists bank transactions for the same period (list-bank-transactions); matches payouts to bank lines and writes a mismatch table. Work step by step, show me each draft or proposed change, and wait for my approval before anything is sent, published, signed, filed or changed in a live system.

What we checked
Stripe MCP can list payouts and balance transactions through its read tool. Stripe recommends turning on tool approval and warns about prompt injection when other MCP servers are connected in the same session, which is the case here. Keep this session read-only.
Stripe keys. Starting in December 2026, Stripe’s MCP server stops accepting full-access secret keys and restricted keys without the Agent tag. Stripe asks you to migrate by November 30, 2026, to a new agent API key or OAuth.
Xero MCP. Xero’s local server has list-bank-transactions and list-payments. It also has write tools, so tell Codex not to call them.
Set it up
Connect both servers to Codex with read-only intent and tool approval on.
Ask for Stripe payouts and Xero bank transactions for the same month.
Have Codex match each payout to a bank line by amount and date (allowing a few days of settlement lag), and write a table of unmatched or mismatched items.
Investigate each one and correct records in Xero yourself.
