Steps

#WhoWhat happensHowStatus
1Consensus Finds peer-reviewed sources for each claim through the Consensus MCP server
MCP use counts against your plan’s monthly API & MCP uses.
MCP Confirmed · source ↗
2Claude Drafts with inline citations and flags weak evidence AI platform Confirmed
3You Open every cited paper and confirm it says what the draft claims Human step Confirmed

Confirmed means the vendor documents it (linked). It doesn't mean IonBin has tested it. AI-platform and human steps need no source.

Human approval

You verify every citation before publishing.

Watch out for

AI can attach a real paper to a claim it doesn’t support. Read the abstract at minimum.

Starter prompt

Goal: Back claims with published research instead of vibes. Tools involved: Consensus, Claude. Your part: finds peer-reviewed sources for each claim through the consensus mcp server; drafts with inline citations and flags weak evidence. Work step by step, show me each draft or proposed change, and wait for my approval before anything is sent, published, signed, filed or changed in a live system.

What we checked (2026-10-17)

  • Consensus MCP searches more than 400 million scholarly articles, including 350 million peer-reviewed ones.
  • Plan limits. The $0 plan lists no API and MCP uses. Pro is $12 a month billed annually and includes 500 API and MCP uses a month, then $0.05 a use up to 1,000. Deep is $45 a month and includes 2,000.

Set it up

  1. Write the outline with one claim per line.
  2. Ask Claude to search Consensus for each claim and return the paper title, year, study type and a link.
  3. Have Claude draft with inline citations and flag claims where the evidence is thin or mixed.
  4. Open every cited paper and read at least the abstract. Make sure it supports the specific claim, not just the topic.
  5. Cut or soften any claim you can’t back up.

A small claim backed by a strong study beats a big claim backed by a weak one. Note sample sizes and whether a study was in humans when it matters.
