AI assistants

Short answer

AI assistants are chat apps such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok. You talk to a model, attach files and, increasingly, connect business tools. Choose one by ecosystem fit, connector (MCP) support, file and context limits, and admin controls, more than by which model tops a leaderboard this month.

What it is

The everyday front door to AI. Each assistant is a vendor’s app built around its own models, plus file handling, memory features and connectors.

How it works

You type or speak, attach documents, and get answers or drafts. Assistants that act as MCP clients can also use connected business tools: search a CRM, read a doc, draft an email. Each underlying model has its own page: Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok.

Benefits

  • No setup. Useful the same day.
  • A path to agents. Connectors turn a chat app into a lightweight agent platform.

Limits and risks

  • Data handling varies by plan. Check retention and training settings before you upload client data.
  • App limits differ from the API. Context and file limits in the app may be lower than the model’s maximum.
  • Compare connector support on Agent-ready.

Marketing content & social

Research, write, design and publish on-brand content, with the agent handling the first draft of everything.
