Question

Which AI platform should I use for what?

Draft · pending editorial review Verified Oct 16, 2026 Review by Jan 14, 2027 7 sources
Short answer

Pick by the job. For code: Cursor, Codex, Claude Code or Antigravity. For background work across web tools: Grok Bot. For writing and analysis: Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. For cited research: Perplexity. For many models in one account: Gab AI or Perplexity. Then check which tools each connects to.

What it is

A practical way to choose between AI platforms without benchmark scores. Each platform is built around a different way of working, and the best one depends on the job and where your work already lives. IonBin’s AI platforms comparison shows sourced capabilities side by side.

How it works

  • Write and ship code: Cursor (editor-first, built-in browser tool), OpenAI Codex (CLI, IDE, ChatGPT app and cloud tasks), Claude Code (terminal-first, Chrome testing) or Google Antigravity (parallel agents, browser subagent). IonBin hasn’t benchmarked these agents against each other; choose by surface and workflow, and try two on the same real task.
  • Hand off background work across web tools: Grok Bot, which uses a persistent cloud computer, connectors and approvals.
  • Write, edit and analyze documents: Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini (Gemini fits teams in Google Workspace).
  • Research with sources: Perplexity, or an assistant with search.
  • Try many models from one account: Gab AI or Perplexity; see access many AI models from one platform.

Then check connections: each IonBin tool page has a “How to use it with AI” table showing which platforms its official docs support.

Benefits

  • Avoids paying for overlapping tools.
  • Matches the platform to how your team actually works.
  • Keeps the choice grounded in documented capabilities.

Limits and risks

  • Capabilities and plans change often; re-check before buying.
  • No platform removes the need for review on consequential work.
