Fix site-audit issues as pull requests

Marketing content & social · Dev, web & IT · checked 2026-10-16

Pull site-audit issues from Semrush, let a coding agent (Antigravity, Codex, Cursor or Claude Code) fix them in your site repository, and review each change as a GitHub pull request.

Watch out for

Keep the human approval step: Nothing merges without your review.

Starter prompt

Goal: Clear technical SEO debt without hand-editing every page. Tools involved: Semrush, GitHub. Your part: returns site-audit issues; fixes the issues in the repository and opens a pull request; hosts the pull request and runs checks. Work step by step, show me each draft or proposed change, and wait for my approval before anything is sent, published, signed, filed or changed in a live system.

Which AI platforms can run it

PlatformStatusWhy
Claude (incl. Claude Code) Confirmed Every MCP and API step is documented for this platform.
OpenAI Codex To verify Semrush: pairing not named in vendor docs
Google Antigravity To verify GitHub: pairing not named in vendor docs
ChatGPT To verify GitHub: pairing not named in vendor docs
Gemini Confirmed Every MCP and API step is documented for this platform.
Perplexity To verify Semrush: pairing not named in vendor docs; GitHub: pairing not named in vendor docs

Computed from the MCP and API steps only: "Confirmed" needs the tool's docs to name the platform and the platform to support the connection. Browser, upload and human steps work from any platform.

What we checked

Semrush MCP exposes discovery tools, including site_audit, position_tracking and projects, and runs reports through execute_report. Project methods are read-only, so the agent can read audit issues but can’t change Semrush projects. The GitHub MCP server can work with repositories, issues and pull requests; your coding agent makes the fixes on a branch, and you review the pull request.

Set it up

  1. Connect Semrush MCP. SEO data needs a plan with API units: Semrush One Starter or Pro+, or SEO Classic Pro or Guru (50,000 units that refresh at renewal); Business and Advanced plans need an API unit package. Project data is read-only through MCP.
  2. Ask the agent to list current audit issues for your site, group them by template or page type, and estimate which fixes touch the most pages.
  3. Let your coding agent fix one group per branch and open a pull request through GitHub, so each change is small enough to review.
  4. Re-run the audit after you merge to confirm the issues cleared. Semrush warns that AI answers built on its data can be inaccurate, so check fixes against the audit itself.
