Set a Claude Code routine to run every Monday: it reads last week's merged pull requests and open issues on GitHub and drafts a plain-English status note. You edit it before it goes to the team.

Goal
Know what shipped without reading every pull request.
Confirmed means the vendor documents it (linked). It doesn't mean IonBin has tested it. AI-platform and human steps need no source.
Human approval
You send the note.
Watch out for
Give the routine read-only access unless it truly needs to write.
Starter prompt
Every Monday, summarize last week in {repo}: merged pull requests grouped by area, notable open issues, and anything blocked. Plain English for non-engineers, under 300 words.
Written for this workflow. Paste it into your AI platform and adjust it to your situation.
No platform-specific connection: the steps run in the tools themselves (browser, upload or built-in).

Perplexity

Computed from the MCP and API steps only: "Confirmed" needs the tool's docs to name the platform and the platform to support the connection. Browser, upload and human steps work from any platform.
What we checked (2026-10-17)
Anthropic describes a routine as a saved Claude Code configuration: a prompt, one or more repositories and a set of connectors, packaged once and run automatically. Routines run on Anthropic-managed cloud infrastructure, so they keep working when your laptop is closed. A routine can start on a schedule (hourly, nightly, weekly or once), from an API call, or on GitHub events. The feature is a research preview, so behavior, limits and the API may change. See background agents.
Set it up
Create a routine with a weekly schedule and attach the repository.
Give it a prompt: “Summarize last week’s merged pull requests and open issues for a non-technical reader: what shipped, what’s blocked, what needs a decision.”
Keep repository access read-only unless the routine truly needs to write.
Read the draft each Monday, edit it, and send it to the team yourself.
