Register a domain and point it at Cloudflare Pages
Dev, web & IT · checked 2026-10-17
Brainstorm names in Claude, check availability with Namecheap’s MCP server, register the domain yourself, add it to Cloudflare, switch nameservers, and connect it to your Cloudflare Pages project.

Keep the human approval step: You approve DNS changes.
Starter prompt
Goal: Go from name to live static site with clean DNS. Tools involved: Claude, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Cloudflare Pages. Your part: brainstorms names; checks availability through namecheap’s mcp server (domains_check_availability); adds the domain as a zone through cloudflare’s api mcp server. Work step by step, show me each draft or proposed change, and wait for my approval before anything is sent, published, signed, filed or changed in a live system.

What we checked (2026-10-17)
Namecheap MCP has domains_check_availability, domain_set_nameservers and dns_records_get. It also has domain_register, which spends money, and domain_purchase_link, which hands you a checkout link. That’s why registration is a manual step here.
Cloudflare full setup. You add the domain to Cloudflare, then change the nameservers at your registrar. Cloudflare says to turn off DNSSEC at the registrar before you switch.
Cloudflare API MCP (search, execute, docs) covers more than 2,500 API endpoints, including DNS.
Pages custom domains. An apex domain needs a Cloudflare zone and Cloudflare nameservers, and then Cloudflare creates the CNAME record. A subdomain only needs a CNAME.
Pricing. Namecheap prices vary by extension. Cloudflare Pages starts at $0 with 500 builds a month.
Set it up
Shortlist names and check them over MCP.
Register the domain yourself.
Add the zone in Cloudflare and note its two nameservers.
Turn off DNSSEC, then switch the nameservers.
Once the zone is active, add the domain to your Pages project and check that HTTPS works.
