Let your AI agent trigger your automations
Ops & admin automation · checked 2026-10-17
Expose existing Make scenarios or n8n workflows as tools through Make’s MCP server or n8n’s MCP Server Trigger node, so your AI platform can run them on request, with approval on anything that writes.
Independent review. IonBin has no partnership with any tool on this page and was not paid for this page. Our evaluation is our own, based on public documentation and our research. Product names are trademarks of their owners and are used for identification only. How disclosure works.
Goal
Reuse automations you already trust instead of giving the agent raw access to every app.
Exposes a workflow as an MCP server with the MCP Server Trigger node
n8n documents optional Bearer or header authentication and a Claude Desktop setup through a gateway; production calls show up in the workflow’s Executions tab.
Approve runs that send, pay or delete; review run logs
Human step
Confirmed
Confirmed means the vendor documents it (linked). It doesn't mean IonBin has tested it. AI-platform and human steps need no source.
Human approval
Anything that writes or sends needs your approval.
Watch out for
Keep the human approval step: Anything that writes or sends needs your approval.
Starter prompt
Goal: Reuse automations you already trust instead of giving the agent raw access to every app. Tools involved: Make, n8n (alternative). Your part: exposes chosen scenarios as mcp tools; exposes a workflow as an mcp server with the mcp server trigger node; calls the right automation with the right inputs. Work step by step, show me each draft or proposed change, and wait for my approval before anything is sent, published, signed, filed or changed in a live system.

Computed from the MCP and API steps only: "Confirmed" needs the tool's docs to name the platform and the platform to support the connection. Browser, upload and human steps work from any platform.
What we checked
Make MCP server. AI systems such as Claude and ChatGPT act as MCP clients. The server’s tools can run active and on-demand scenarios, and with the right scopes view and modify scenarios, connections, webhooks and data stores. Scenario run tools are available on all plans; management tools need a paid plan. You choose scopes when you connect.
n8n MCP Server Trigger. The node turns a workflow into an MCP server. It has a test URL and a production URL; the production URL is live once you publish the workflow, and each call appears in the workflow’s Executions tab. You can require Bearer or header authentication, and n8n documents connecting from Claude Desktop through a gateway.
Usage. Neither page says whether MCP-triggered runs are billed differently from other runs. Check your usage after a few test calls.
Set it up
Pick two or three automations you already trust, such as “log this lead” or “create an invoice draft”.
Expose only those, with the narrowest scopes, and turn on authentication for n8n.
Keep approval on anything that sends, pays or deletes, and review run logs weekly.
