Microsoft Copilot Studio

Agent builder · Microsoft

Build an authenticated internal assistant around SharePoint knowledge, with tenant controls and explicit answer checks.

What it is

Microsoft Copilot Studio is an agent-building platform. This page covers the standard harness and a SharePoint knowledge use case; it does not generalize these capabilities to every agent experience. The sources establish documented features, not a completed IonBin deployment.

  • Web authoring and test panel: A trial can create and test an agent; publishing requires eligible licensing. source ↗

What it's best at

  • Using a maintained SharePoint SOP collection as answer evidence
  • Adding approved tools to an internal agent under Power Platform controls

How it works

  1. Choose the supported agent experience, source method and channel before configuring access.
  2. Add the smallest useful knowledge scope, then test ordinary questions and access-boundary cases.
  3. Have a knowledge owner approve answers and an administrator approve the deployment configuration.

Agent, connector and MCP support

MCP / connectors

Yes

Client support for MCP tools and resources with generative orchestration. This is not a claim that this standard-harness agent exposes an MCP server.

Browser control

To verify

Browser operation is outside this SharePoint knowledge review; using a web authoring interface does not establish browser automation.

Runs code

To verify

General code execution is outside this standard-harness knowledge review.

Works with files

Yes

Knowledge file uploads are supported; limits depend on the source method, license and environment.

Ideal use cases

  • An employee asks how to follow an approved procedure and checks the cited source
  • A knowledge owner tests whether an assistant refuses questions outside the approved source set

Limits

  • A trial does not establish publishing entitlement.
  • Test access with end-user identities, not only an administrator's account.
  • Encrypted or password-protected source files can fail grounding even when the user can open them.
  • The full tenant configuration and answer quality have not been tested here.
  • Source-method limits, protected-file behavior and citations must be validated in the deployment tenant. This is a documentation review, not a tested deployment.

How it pairs with your tools

This platform is not included in the general tool-page connection matrix. Use the specific pairings and sources above; other combinations need separate verification.

Workflows you can run here

Confirmed means the workflow's connection is documented for Microsoft Copilot Studio, including a native recipe explicitly scoped to this platform. Inferred means an API step relies on Microsoft Copilot Studio running code, with no document naming the pairing. These labels do not mean IonBin has tested the workflow.
