Score AI drafts with two reviewers

AI evaluation & quality control · checked 2026-10-18

Use independent judgments, a fixed rubric and recorded adjudication to compare AI outputs. Review disagreements before interpreting an average score as a quality signal.

Goal

A versioned scoring table with reasons and adjudicated decisions.

Steps

  1. Owner

Prepare a small task sample and distribute independent review copies.

    Human stepConfirmed
  2. Reviewers

Score independently with the same rubric and stable example IDs.

    Human stepConfirmed
  3. Adjudicator

Review disagreements and prepare accepted evaluation rows.

    Human stepConfirmed

Confirmed means the vendor documents it (linked). It doesn't mean IonBin has tested it. AI-platform and human steps need no source.

Human approval

A responsible person checks the source evidence and approves the output before it is used or shared.

Watch out for

A model’s previous answer is not automatically a valid reference answer.

Starter prompt

Score each criterion using only the rubric and supplied evidence. Cite the relevant passage and record uncertainty instead of guessing.

Which AI platforms can run it

PlatformStatusWhy
Claude (incl. Claude Code) Confirmed No platform-specific connection: the steps run in the tools themselves (browser, upload or built-in), with documented capabilities and human review steps. This is not an end-to-end test.
OpenAI Codex Confirmed No platform-specific connection: the steps run in the tools themselves (browser, upload or built-in), with documented capabilities and human review steps. This is not an end-to-end test.
Google Antigravity Confirmed No platform-specific connection: the steps run in the tools themselves (browser, upload or built-in), with documented capabilities and human review steps. This is not an end-to-end test.
ChatGPT Confirmed No platform-specific connection: the steps run in the tools themselves (browser, upload or built-in), with documented capabilities and human review steps. This is not an end-to-end test.
Gemini Confirmed No platform-specific connection: the steps run in the tools themselves (browser, upload or built-in), with documented capabilities and human review steps. This is not an end-to-end test.
Perplexity Confirmed No platform-specific connection: the steps run in the tools themselves (browser, upload or built-in), with documented capabilities and human review steps. This is not an end-to-end test.

Readiness considers the connection evidence and unresolved steps. Confirmed: documented access and the proposed steps meet the recorded requirements. MCP and API pairings require an explicit reviewed platform note; a named plugin or CLI alone does not confirm MCP. Inferred: an explicit page note describes a plausible pairing that still needs testing. To verify: a connection or step is unresolved. An API and code execution alone do not establish compatible network access, credentials or permissions. None of this is IonBin testing.

Define a useful pilot

Choose examples that represent the intended task, including an easy case, a difficult case and an answer that should be rejected. Define each score with observable criteria and examples. Separate factual correctness from style and completeness; a fluent answer should not earn correctness credit simply because it reads well.

Score independently

Give two reviewers the same rubric and source evidence without exposing the other person’s judgment. Separate task copies or exports with stable IDs are sufficient for a pilot; do not assume a particular Label Studio edition includes blind assignment or agreement reports. Record the score, rationale, uncertainty and rubric version. Keep model identity hidden where practical to reduce brand expectations.

Resolve and preserve

Join results by example ID and inspect disagreements. They can reflect ambiguous evidence, different expertise, missing instructions or legitimate differences of judgment. An adjudicator records the accepted decision and why. Preserve the original scores rather than overwriting them. Import only reviewed references into an evaluation dataset, keeping development examples separate from held-out assessment cases. Report sample size and failure categories alongside aggregate scores. This proposed review process is not an automated certification of model quality.
