What we checked
Stripe’s MCP server reads data with a stripe_api_read tool that can call any Stripe API GET method, and writes with a separate stripe_api_write tool for POST, PATCH, PUT and DELETE methods. Stripe requires human confirmation before certain writes, such as refunds and outbound payments. A stripe_analytics tool for metrics and subscription analysis is in preview. Stripe recommends OAuth for interactive clients, or an agent API key with only the permissions the client needs. Starting in December 2026, Stripe MCP will stop accepting full-access secret keys and restricted keys without the Agent tag, so this page no longer suggests a plain restricted key. Stripe also advises turning on your client’s tool-approval setting.
