01 / Task fit
Where it may help.
These are intended uses indicated by the upstream material. They are not measured outcomes.
- Current answers about Microsoft products with an official source
- Setup steps and limits from Microsoft Learn
What it is
This skill tells an agent to look up Microsoft documentation rather than answer from memory. It uses the Microsoft Learn MCP server's search and fetch tools, or the mslearn command-line tool if MCP isn't available. It covers concepts, tutorials, configuration options, limits and quotas across Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows, .NET and Power Platform.
Why you might use it
Use it when you or an agent need current Microsoft limits, settings or setup steps and want the answer tied to an official page. It encourages specific queries that include version and platform.
Put it in context.
Illustrative requests and outputs to review. These examples are separate from the recorded evaluation below.
Check a service limit
Example request
What is the current maximum timeout for Azure Functions on the Consumption plan? Cite the Microsoft Learn page.
What to look for. An answer with the documentation link it came from.
Before you rely on it. Docs can lag product changes. Check the page date, and confirm in your tenant or subscription settings.
Follow a setup tutorial
Example request
Find the Microsoft Learn quickstart for creating a SharePoint site and list the steps in order.
What to look for. A step list taken from the fetched page.
Before you rely on it. Steps depend on your plan and admin rights. The docs can't tell you what your tenant allows.
02 / Setup & access
What it asks of your environment.
Requirements
- The Microsoft Learn MCP server at learn.microsoft.com/api/mcp, or Node.js for the mslearn CLI.
- No Microsoft account is needed to search public documentation.
Permissions & data access
- Sends search queries to Microsoft Learn and fetches public pages.
- The CLI fallback runs an npm package with npx.
Instructions alone do not enforce a sandbox. The agent host, connected tools and approvals determine what the skill can actually read, change or send.
03 / Things to check
Security concerns & practical limits.
These concerns follow from the reviewed sources. They describe possible exposure or required review; they are not confirmed vulnerabilities.
Review before use
The CLI fallback runs a downloaded package
Running npx @microsoft/learn-cli fetches and runs code from npm. Pin a version or install it deliberately rather than running it ad hoc.
Limits and nuances
- Source review of SKILL.md and the repository license only.
- No query was run and no CLI was installed. No answer-accuracy result is claimed.

Upstream content can change after review. A repository revision identifies source scope; it does not prove that every script, dependency or runtime behavior was tested. How freshness is handled.

These counts refer to the cases in this report. They are not a benchmark against other skills. A source review does not establish runtime behavior.

Recorded environment
- Pinned public UTF-8 sources fetched from raw.githubusercontent.com at the recorded commit and hashed with SHA-256.
- Linux; Python 3.13.5 source-condition check. No account, credentials, private documents or live business data.

Observation
Official source first
The skill prefers live documentation over training data.
